I-MMERSE is the Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program of GDC that aims to bring on board GDC experienced entrepreneurs as well as young professionals who have decided to make a career in entrepreneurship.

Through GDC, the EIRs will join hands with faculty and researchers of a university.

They will explore commercialisation of research and launch start-ups. At any point of time at a university, some faculty members are likely to have a set of ongoing research projects which they would be looking to commercialise for which they might be seeking suitably qualified entrepreneurs. In some cases, the EIR may also have an innovation in mind, which could be the starting point for discussions with the faculty. GDC pairs up the selected EIRs with faculty working on ideas/research projects in areas of common interest and expertise.

The EIRs and a team of faculty and researchers bond and find common ground.

They would apply to GDC’s I-NCUBATE program for conducting a customer discovery exercise. The EIRs serve as a great resource for developing business concepts, making contacts with the market, helping team members who may be new to entrepreneurship, and essentially help to hit the ground running as their team(s) join the I-NCUBATE or I-NSPIRE programs. The more experienced entrepreneurs typically mentor start-up teams for GDC’s I-NCUBATE and I-NSPIRE programs besides working as CXOs with start-ups in the I-GNITE program.

EIRs in the I-MMERSE program are expected to work full-time with GDC.
